The Victorian Halls ‘Springteen’ album features 6 upbeat, theatrical tracks. Each song projects sporadic vocals intertwined with melodic choruses. The vocals altogether are dynamic and powerful, ranging from violent screams to intimate whispers creating an awkwardly romantic urgency. While the overall feeling is upbeat, a dark atmosphere is projected. The theatric presentation is topped off with heavy piano leads reminiscent of the Dresden Dolls. The dramatic changes in tempo and depth are reminiscent of the Faint. I fell in love with this CD the moment track 1 began playing in my car stereo. I hope to hear more from Victorian Halls and will definitely aim to pick up their 2009 EP.
