When I was seven years old my aunt gave me my first cassette tape ever. Yes! I said tape. My aunt gave me Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall. All I can remember as a kid is wanting to play it everywhere I went. I’m pretty sure my dad was sick and tired of hearing Michael Jackson by the time I was eight.

Off The Wall was released August 10, 1979 on Epic Records. This was Michael Jackson’s first release after his four albums with Motown. This album is filled with timeless classics like “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough,” “Rock with You,” “Working Day and Night,” and my personal favorite Michael Jackson song “Off the Wall.” With this album Michael Jackson produced four #1 singles. Michael Jackson was the first artist to recieve such an achievement. I’m pretty sure you can dance to 95% of the songs on this album. With a mixture of funk, R&B, soul, and great vocals, how can you not have a good feeling when listening to Off The Wall?

“Out on the floor there ain’t nobody there but us, girl when you dance there’s a magic that must be love.” This line always reminded me of what Michael Jackson represented throughout his career. I’m twenty-five now and I still love this album. I will always listen to Michael Jackson no matter how old I am. I’m pretty sure Michael Jackson’s music will continue until the end of time. So with that, R.I.P. Michael Jackson and thanks for leaving the world your music.
